Anyone used the national hunting leases website? I was looking at a piece of ground and had some questions. I found the regional rep. to be less than informed on some basic questions I had for him. Basically he just wanted me to "take his word for it" without contacting the landowner to get the questions answered.

Not trying to rant, but there were a few other problems I encountered that raised some red flags. Anyone have any dealings with these types of services?

Sorry - No experience with them, but I may check them out to lease my property.
Anyone try Basecamp leasing? They ran a ad for land in my area and I may look at them when my current guys quit leasing.

Nope. From the sounds of it, I wouldn't send any money to the one you contacted, if they're asking for compensation.

Base Camp is quite high on their rates and take 25% commision out of the advertised lease rate. They carry the insurance policy too. I may contact them to research what people are willing to pay. Leasing isn't real common in northern MN, but there are getting to be more people advertising looking for spots to hunt and the typical rate most people ask for is property taxes and probably don't carry insurance. The liability is what spooks me on leasing out and if the guys will piss off the neighbors. My current lease guys get a better deal and they help with wildlife projects and its only a father & son. It helps me with keeping a hunter presence on my place because I don't hunt it. I knocked down a lot of deer stands when I bought the place and there was supposedly no hunters on its...

Hunting Lease Network will also let you to walk the property before you bid on it......seems like common sense to do so to make sure you know what you are getting.
