What kind of accuracy and range are you getting?

100 yards 1 1/2 16inch barrel with 125 Sierra softpoint at 2250 fps using 1680 powder.
For more info go to BLK forum. Many loads and much info.

CMMG upper. 220 gr factory loads 3-4 MOA. Subsonic handloads with 220 matchkings about 1.75-2.0 MOA. Have not tried supersonic loads yet.

If it won't do better at some point I am likely to try a Wilson or Noveske barrel.

I can hit the 200 yard gong fairly easily. I have not shot for groups other than 25-50 yards as I am doing chrono tests mostly. I am having some difficulty getting the subsonics to cycle the gun but it is in development.

I did use it on a coyote at 40 yards a week or two ago. It hits with authority but not a traumatic shock like a 223 at 2800 fps. It lingered a little.

I was thinking the only reason for it existence was, if you are going to use a can and want subsonic for night hunting .

I'm thinking house gun with subsonic loads, so if I do have to shoot it indoor I can at least keep my hearing. I have a Leupold prism scope on mine, plus a laser forward grip.

So far it has been very reliable, but the accuracy is not as good as I hoped.

I am just buying a pair of tactical ear muffs to use on my 5.56 in my house, cheaper than a can and a new upper. Then 40 grain VMax at 3600 FPS is guaranteed not to sail thru 16 walls and kill the neighbor 5 houses down.

True smile but the other AR15 is wearing a 20" bull barrel. I do have a 16" barrel for my AR10, but... grin

Just another toy, but makes the can seem useful.

I know, we are all sick or we would not be posting on this website. Yesterday someone told me that cans were legal to hunt with in GA now.

I have been shooting 300 whispers since 1999. 99.999999% same as 300 blackout. I shoot 18.5 grains of H110 and Nosler ballistic tips for regular 1/2 inch groups when I do my job. Subsonics I shoot 220 sierra matchkings and N110 powder and hunting I use 225 or 220 gr Outlaw State bullets. They shoot just as straight as supersonics.

It is for people who want to shoot 30 cal in an AR15 and keep 30 round mag capacity.

For frontal area, it is much more larger than a 223 than a 45 Auto is compared to a 9mm.

Going from 9mm to 45 Auto is a 26.8% gain in diameter and a 60.7% gain in area.

Going from 5.56mm to 300 BLK is a 37.5% gain in diameter and a 89.1% gain in area.

So if frontal area matters to you, there is a greater gain going from 5.56mm to 300 BLK than going from 9mm to 45 Auto (the difference in diameter gain is 39.9%, and the difference in area gain is 46.8%).

It has as much energy from a 16 inch barrel as 5.56mm does from a 24 inch.
