Today I looked at a Ruger #3. Someone had rebarreled it to 17 Mach IV. It had been a .223. It came with brass, dies, and the original barrel for $500.00. I was going to buy it and convert it to .50-70 or maybe a .30-40 but when I went back to the table the fellow decided he was goig to keep it and have it bored to a larger caliber.....dang it!!

Ya I have one I bought in 1976 in 45-70, I still have the Ruger catolog from that year $165.00 FLP!!! I wish I bought a 22 H in one and a 30-40 Kraig. $500, is cheap for an original in great shape, I dont know about one that has been changed though. Good luck finding one.
Thanks, Bob Too many calibers and not enough time for the working man to hunt with them all.

I could have sold the original barrel, brass, and dies for $200.00 and for a little more I could have had the 17 Mach IV bored for something useful.
