Did anyone notice the '99 in 7mm-08 that sold on Gunbroker this evening? I had it on my watch list since the reserve was met...........
$3576.00!!!!!!
This one was in A+ condition, with the original box....

Box helps a lot on that, but it's definitely not NIB and that price is insane. Happy seller, though, I'll bet.

Seen a bushnell scoped 22-250 at the gun show today. Was asking $750. for it. Condition likely 85%. no box. Just didn't trip my trigger. GW

I've got to start checking the C's that I see every weekend at gunshows. I just walk right past them and don't even give them a second thought. Might pick up a 22-250 or 7mm-08 some day. Not becasue I want the damn thing, I'll bring it home and put it up on GB

There appeared to be some likely shill bidding. I thought the same thing.....I actually threw a bid in on this at $2,901.00, knowing I wasn't going to get stuck with it...however, I didn't think it would go this high....

What year model was that?
I wonder why you never see late-model Savage 99's. I think I would like to have one made from the last fews years of production.

That was a 1981 rifle. You see 1980 rifles reasonably often, the late 90's 99C's are harder to find.
“ The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com

Randy...you get to go to gun shows every weekend in your neck of woods? Damn! Lot's of Gun Shows and Gun Auctions in Pennsylvania. It's not necessarily a good thing. They're extremely addicting and very expensive. I go to at least two a month. Last weekend I had to buy another 30 gun, Gun Safe. I think I'd like to move somewhere in the hills, where there's not a gun show within a hundred miles.

I just hit the real good ones in the spring and summer, take a break to hunt in the fall, but during the winter........yep every weekend, sometimes 2 per weekend. We have good 99 hunting here in Pa. Got a few top secret spots in NY too Cheap entertainment. Keeps me out of trouble.

I just walk right past them and don't even give them a second thought. Might pick up 7mm-08 some day. Not likely, if it's at a gunshow I'm pretty sure they know what they've got but who knows you might find the odd gunshow table with a guy having an IQ under 70.

Plenty of real smart and knowledgable guys sitting behind the talbes at those shows.
No shortage of dumb [bleep] either. And that knife cuts both ways, I have seen junk way over priced and gems way under priced.
And I am not just talking about 99's. I'm always looking for WW II stuff and Remington model 8's and 14's
That is what makes them (gun shows) interesting, you just never know what kind of treasures you are going to find. I wouldn't waste my time prowling around them if everybody there was a genius. I've left many empty handed and walked out of many with sweetheart deals.

With GB, you never know. I sold one just like this a few years ago here on the fire for well under half of this. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=263875687

That is a nice looking rifle. That one was too high for me, but I would like one of those later model 99's.

$1200 for 99C in 308 with impressed checkering? Standard wood, scope, etc... ??????
Only thing I can think of is that's what the power of starting low with no reserve and GREAT pictures will get ya.
But it's still insane.
