If any of you have one you would be willing to part with, please let me know.

Actually, the early Savage 24Vs in both 222/20 and 30-30/20 had the barrel band style front sight. IIRC, the 24V Series D was the style without the barrel band. My only 24V in 30-30/20 is a Series B and it has, IIRC, a barrel band front sight.

i noticed the barrel band was the earlier ones as well. Also if anyone knows, is one better than the other?

In terms of accuracy, Savage 24Vs are a crap shoot. Some shoot pretty good, some don't, but there isn't any way of knowing without shooting them.

I don't know if either is more accurate than the other.

Phones, What area in SC? Upstate maybe? I have a 24V with 2 barrel sets: 30-30/20 and 222/20. PM if interested. Here's the config of the 30-30 bbl set. (the 222 has the band):

I know it has been a long time since you posted, but by any chance is the 30/30-20ga. barrel set still for sale? Thanks in advance for your reply. Stay safe.......

chuckie, Unless I missed something, don't think there was a separate 30-30 Bbl set offered in this thread. A gentleman was looking for a 24V Series D with the 30-30/20 Bbls. I had a 24V with 2 Bbl sets 30-30/20 and 222/20, but preferred to sell the whole package together.
PM me if you want to discuss the above further. Or you could place a WTB on the very active classifieds on this site. AND welcome to this fine forum. Savage is spoken here and you'll not find any more knowledgeable or passionate about these fine firearms.

Dons1 thanks for the reply. I am just now getting to know the Savage 24 models, I recently bought a 24v with the 222/20 combo. I made my purchase from GunsAmerica and I am very pleased with the Savage. I mounted a Weaver K-4 scope I've had for years on Weaver mounts and rings and the whole setup looks and shoots just great. I know I will enjoy this forum and all the information that is available. Thanks again for the reply. For now I say so long from far west Texas, and stay safe!
