When you tack a 2012 calendar to the wall, mark THAT one.
More'n one?

George Orwell was a Prophet, not a novelist. Read 1984 and then look around you!

If you are driving out there and want to split expenses I'd be glad to hitch a ride. You almost have to go by Ocala to get there.

I wanted to go THIS year, but responsibilities (feeding cattle) intervened. I'll try to make it next year, as I have other friends in the vicinity, the country is beautiful, and I believe the camaraderie would be "once in a lifetime" wonderful. Mark

Hell, Mark, everybody who still had cattle were feeding them this year. It looks like central and northern New Mexico are going to grow some feed this year. You'll be welcome in 2012!

Hey fellas - the indicated date would be fine for me, and I don't want to insert a damper, but how about experience?
This summer, due to NF restrictions, we were forced to camp at a NF campground so we could cook and we had no campfire, no privacy and no immediate place to shoot. This due to early summer dryness after a dry winter/spring. The summer rains ordinarily do not begin until after mid-July.
It is now the end of July, we have had decent rain on and off for more than a week or so, and more to come. This place is looking GREEN and the forest is open to camping/fires, etc. or very soon will be. Elk all over the place. Much more pleasant and plenty of places for a deluxe forest conclave that would be near no one.
So - might wish to think about mid-August for the above reasons. Just an observation.

Mixed feelings, balanced We'll be sad and diminished by the absence of certain good Campfire compadres. We'll be elated and exuberant at the absence of certain pesky, annoying Campfire trolls.

One of my contracts has an all-staff and consultants retreat in July, and we just missed it this year. My kids (and grand-kids) often schedule a visit in July or the first week in August. In fact, number two daughter and her children arrived today.

I am easy so if it needs to be August that is fine. As long as I have enough notice(plenty in this case obviously) I am good to go.

Let's invite a couple of trolls to join us for that shindig. Even one would make the rest of us seem more like nice guys!

You're the Master of Ceremonies, invite away! If they are genuine, no one could ignore an invite from you.

You're the Master of Ceremonies, invite away! If they are genuine, no one could ignore an invite from you. I can't. I'm entirely irrelevant (and appropriately so) and can't invite all those whom I'd like to. The Campfire guy whom I'd welcome most warmly even more enthusiastically than Rick Bin or "dogzapper" is our "Skalkaho," a truly genuine, super-fine fellow whom I'd especially like for y'all to know. But I doubt that he'd be persuaded to join us, even if he knew what we're planning. As a fireman-paramedic, he works a strange schedule that seldom or never gives him a week-end off. Nothing short of chloroform and kidnapping could shanghai his beautiful Laura into joining us. She wouldn't allow Rebecca, Brad, Jeff, Jesse, and little "Carrie" to join us. "Skalkaho" would most likely not come over here without 'em, even if he could.

The sooner we can nail a date, the firmer I can lock it in. Have we?

Not yet as far as I know... I'll talk to Kent when he gets back in town.
