A friend has one in .223, and my cousin has a Buffalo Rifle in .45/70. both shoot like yours.

Nice looking rifle. I ended up getting the 1871 in 38-55 Win. I put a fixed 6X Burris on it with a leather recoil pad and a leather military sling. Looks pretty good. I had to mount the scope back a little to get the eyepiece to clear the hammer. I used a Uncle Mike's QD 1/2 barrel band for the front swivel. The light Winchester factory load groups very well. I got some Buffalo Bore "hot" loads in the 38-55 for deer. The groups opened up some but within 2" at 75 yards. It needs the extra power for deer size game. I am looking forward to not having to clean my muzzle loader this year. Good hunting.
