Tied this number today and am having issues getting it photographed... The lights are too bright, even through diffusers and I do not want to spend the time to build a proper tent just yet... But here is a reasonable picture for now...

Wow. Nice fly - almost a contest winner if it had a category.

Tied this number today and am having issues getting it photographed... The lights are too bright, even through diffusers and I do not want to spend the time to build a proper tent just yet... But here is a reasonable picture for now... Cool fly! I can see there are Lady Amherst tippets, Golden Pheasant Crests including a dyed black one for the tail, Ostritch herl butt, Blue jay or Indian Crow, Jungle Cock nails, Peacock body feathers, teal and grizzly hackle. The wing also has what appears to be Chukar body feathers and there is some soft brown feathers as the veil over the tail. The horns are likely Macaw. Close?

The tail is CA valley quail veiled with mountain quail throat, the ostrich herl butt. The throat is lavendar guinea (natural color) and the duck is pintail, rather than teal. It is a 5/0 hook and few teal produce feathers large enough. The wing is chukar as you noted with the JC nails. The sides are peacock as you also pointed out with JC and the blue is kingfisher while the horns are Lady Amhearst dyed blue. The topping is golden pheasant crest.

Got a few right at least. Very cool fly. Yep, could be a challenge to find teal feathers to fit on a 5/0 in that config. Don't know why I said Lady A. tippets though.

And I just hate it when the second back cast leaves it suspended 20 ft up and out over the river in the branches of a dead tree. Three years ago I left a daisey chain of 3 steelhead flies in the limbs. I was afraid the tree would tip and drop me in the rapids if I risked the climb.
If they are in the fly box though, they have to get used.

Have ya tried different backgrounds? Grey, black. white...grey usually works good.

I was hung up on using the Impeyan pheasant skin background and the issue is the glare and lack of quality detail.... But a change to a neutral background should help, you are correct.

Nice tie Sitka. Is it safe to say that some of those feathers spent more time on my bench waiting to get mailed than they spent on your bench waiting to get hook-bound?

Yeah, I suspect that would be a safe statement.
