I'd have shot a whole bunch more bears if they hadn't required me to keep the meat.

You can only fill up so many plastic pumpkins on Halloween with bear meat before the kids start catching on.

Or just open it up to non-res. The sow kill will skyrocket, and the bear population will plummet. Just look at SE AK for an example of how to ruin a bear population.

It's been well documented and researched about what happened to SE AK. Free for all for non-res = high sow take, high wounding loss, and high take of "cubs". (see above thread)

Funny how Medred doesn't mention opening up Griz hunting to Non-res?

if that is the case. enact a fee for small bears and sows.

I do not doubt your info. When they opened up a bear hunt in NJ I saw quite a few bears less than 75 lbs.

Guessing that is going to a draw system for bear now in SE AK.

can't blame them

A recent report from a friend with GPS data on elk hunter movements revealed that few ever ventured more than 400 yards from an active road. This was in a high fenced 30,000 acre enclosure with many bulls scoring well over 300.

I live in an elk unit and every year I chase out elk hunters sitting in my drive way about 20 yds from the road. During elk season my wife and I sit on our deck and watch the circus. Amazing number of lazy idiots that purchase big game licenses.

I'm surprised that anybody hunting elk inside a high fence would get 400 yards from the road.

Wow, what a read. Kind of embarassing actually, I felt bad the whole time. As for the kings, I am up in Anchorage right now for 3 weeks but I hear it's been slow. Klawock will be up here for basketball though, good to watch them in the big city!
