Ive been searching the Internet on a question for awhile now, and this sight seems to always hit the necessary key words so I figured I would get the opinion of this forum a try. I recently orderded myself a new stag arms 3G. Now I am forced with the dilemma of choosing a scope to put atop of it. My primary use of the gun will be varmint hunting despite the fact that it is a 3 gun rifle. The scopes I have been tossing up in my head are either (and these will seem perhaps incomparable) the Nikon m223 3-12, the zeiss 4.5-14x44 with a rapid z, or maybe something from swarovski. I really don't want to spend over $800 on this scope. And the main reason I have not just ordered up the m223 is concerns about light transmission up at 12x. What aroused the concern is on my tikka 30.06 I have a zeiss conquest 3-9x40 and I love it, and I feel that my brothers m223 2-8 doesn't fit me well once the scopes come out at dusk. Any input would be appreciated

My RRA 20-inch Varminter carries a Zeiss 4.5-14x44AO. At first, I thought it was too large for the rifle, but I got over that when I saw how that combo performed.

I would also like to hear about other scope or sighting systems used by others.

I'm getting a Mark AR 3x9 w mildots and a 1-4x Burris XTR. That'll cover most anything I intend to do with an AR.

I have a Burris Timberline on mine with the Burris mount. It works well for me and I like the Ballistic Plex.

I like the 3-9x Rapid Reticle by PFI-- www.rapidreticle.com I use the 22 Long Rifle Rapid Reticle recald. to the trajectory of my AR load.
