Last year when I was barracked in Afghanistan, I used what little spare time I had to take a Dari class to reach out to the Afghan people. While I am anguished that our work has been diminished by the recent murder of innocent life, I am glad that the President is able to remind us who we are as a people.

the United States takes this as seriously as if it was our own citizens and our own children who were murdered. We are heartbroken over the loss of innocent life. The killing of innocent civilians is outrageous and unacceptable. It is not who we are as a country and it does not represent our military.
