I posted this on a knife forum this morning and after thinking about all the B**chin I've seen here in the past about LEO's I thoght I'd re-post it here.

The closest I've come to loosing a knife was many years ago. I hit a Car sale looking for a new ride right after work at Daytona International Speedway. I took a new car out and the sales guy said go ahead and take it home for the night (it was late PM) and we'll run your credit in the morning and have your truck moved to the dealership. I totally forgot my knife roll was in my truck. The next day I went to the stealer and they tried to gank me with a payment that was nearly 2x what we talked about. I just said no thanks I'll stick with what I have. The owner came in and told me that my car had already been taken to auction all the way down to Okeechobe. I walked out and called the PD. The LEO who showed up was really cool after I explained how SOL I was because my knife roll was in the car and I had no way to get to work. I surely would have lost my job with out his help. He called a few other LEO's and they blocked every entrance to the dealership. He took me with him and we went straight back to the owner and he explained to him that he was going to write a check for my knives on the spot and loan me that new car until they shipped mine back or he was going to get a one way ride to the pokey for auto theft. I've pi**ed and moaned about a few traffic tickets over the years but that officer surely save MYA that day.

Dave,

Good to hear it worked out that well. There are far more good LEO's than bad ones, just like there are far more good people here than trolls. People forget LEO have a job to do just like the rest of us.

Glad you posted this,Dave.
Almost all of my encounters with LEOs have been postive, other than(with) a few speeding tickets when I was a teenager.

My Brother in Law is the third highest ranking Police Officer in our city, one of only two Sergeants. One would be hard pressed to find a finer man anywhere on the planet.

I disagree with some departments and locale's overzealous enforcemnt of speeding tickets on non residential roads and with how much money we spend on some other crime issues to seemingly no avail but the work he does and that of most smaller city PD's is typically quite excellent. Same with most county Sherriff's Departments.

On the other side of the coin, a WA State Patrolman, named Officer LIKE of all things, was such a demeaning and complete ASS when he gave me a speeding ticket (I deserved the ticket, no problem with that part, I have received more than a few of those) that even after almost four years I still have fantasies about getting his sorry butt into a chain link Octagon for an hour or so and maybe removing some of his allmighty smirk and smart mouth.
