I don't think i'd spend $899 even if I had received my bonus check from my office. I'm almost sure that someone will buy it, but to me, it's cool to look at the receipt. What do you guys think?

Bought new in Gitmo. Interesting. The "BuyItNow!" price is a tad high, but since it's a basic-style auction, I think it'll sell in the neighborhood of $600, but probably a little higher with auctions being what they are. Nice looking 99F though.

Definately cool to look at, tempting even--if I weren't ok w/ F308s , could be sorely tempting. Someone should grab this--looks like a very nice rifle. dh

I'm coming up with $502.57 in 2005 dollars. It looks to be the typical reasonably-priced Navy Exchange gun (when there used to be reasonably-priced goods and firearms at Navy Exchanges). No sales tax either.

In 2003, $73.95 from 1957 is worth:
$484.34 using the Consumer Price Index
$392.31 using the GDP deflator
$637.47 using the unskilled wage
$1,042.90 using the GDP per capita
$1,759.53 using the relative share of GDP

So it sounds like 502.57 is about right using the CPI

The CPI is what I used. Figure if sales tax had been charged on that purchase -- in 2005 dollars and at an average of say 8.00% -- the total price would today be $542.78. I'd buy three. Without haggling.

That is a premil F in real nice shape, and with the hangtag, it makes it worth the buy it now price, I have seen them with less condition go for more. Hell if I had the 899, it would be on it's way here now. Les

Just as a reference point, the 1956 Shooters Bible shows a list price of $108.60 for the 99F.

That would be around $749.12 in today's dollars. Consider manufacturer's MSRPs for the following currently-produced rifles: Ruger Model 77 MKII Standard -- $716, Remington Model 700 BDL/CDL -- $743 to $769, Winchester USRA Model 70 Classic III -- $742 to $773, Browning BLR Lightweight '81 -- $731 to $802.

You are OK in 308Fs? I wouldn't agree with that.
