I have a mini 14 ranch rifle That I am trading to a buddy. The only way he will make the trade is if I put a mount and scope on it. The mount I have ready and willing to attach is a 1 piece side mount. Anybody ever shot close to MOA with a mini 14? I dont want to risk buy a nice leupold for it and him saying "Im better off with a 10/22 no thanks" Then I eat the cost of this scope.

I fyou have a Ranch rifle, it should have the molded in bases for Ruger rings. Several companies do make a mount that goes on the Ruger mounts that allow the use of Weaver rings. I would not put ion the side mount. Too many issues. kwg

As kwg020 said if it's a Ranch rifle it should be all set up for Ruger mounts. If it's not a Ranch rifle and instead a standard Mini14 then forget about scoping it, the mounts are cheesy and the accuracy of the rifle is so bad it just doesn't pay.
