I know that Taurus isn't very popular here but I picked one up the other day and is felt awesome in my hand. I am really thinking about getting one for myself since I have a nice stack of 45acp ammo in the garage and no 45 acp.

So has anyone tried one of these out or any of the other 800 series pistols by taurus. Most of the reviews I have seen about them have been good. At >$400 for a stainless duo tone its hard to beat.

Also, is it safe to reload for them?

Whatever a 7x57 can do a 270 can do better.

I had an 840 for a while, shot it quite a bit, even in a match, and it function perfectly. I bought it cheap and traded it for something different. Design is very similar to a Glock.

I haven't tried one, but in general I've been very impressed by Taurus' autopistols and own several. (My favorite all-time 9mm pistol is a Taurus 92AF.) Why don't you buy one of these guns and do a range report for us? laugh

As for reloading safety, I don't see why not (although Taurus will tell you that using reloads will void their warranty, no surprise there). The 45 ACP round is a low-pressure round when compared to the 9mm and 40 S&W, and factory ammo is ridiculously expensive. I say go for it.

I am familiar with Taurus 845. I have fired mine about 100 rounds. No hangups, no faults. Works great. Preparing to load 45XTP for defense round and using mine as concealed carry.
