I found one of these in a gunshop today. If it had not been for the barrel being dirty I would have thought that it was new. The guy had 299.00 on it. I was not willing to pay that price but wanted to know if any of you guys had any experience with this rifle. I want to know if it's worth my time to try and talk this guy down?

I have many mossys but not this one..but, I would think the 200-250 range is where I'd be hunting, based on your condition stated.

Walk in with cash in hand, an you can usually walk out with what you want, if you are reasonable (and seller too..)

It's amazing how powerful ol' Ben Franklin can still be after all these years smile

That is the range of what I what I was thinking due to the fact that a new Marlin could be had for 220 or so with used ones for less. Was curious of the kind of accuracy I should expect. Any comments from Fire members would be appreciated.

I have the exact same model. The 22 mag isn't known for it's accuracy. It probably has a terrible trigger; probably in the neighborhood of 8 lbs or more . If you go over to rimfirecentral.com, you'll find a lot of good information and a lot of knowlegeable people. As far as price goes, $250 is about right if it's in the condition you say it's in.

Did you end up getting this? I have one,and aside from the hard trigger pull, I love it. The only other issue you might have is mounting a scope on it.You need to use offset rings to get enough eye relief.I would say $200-$250 is where it should be. I lucked into mine at a gun auction for $130.

If it looks good, you'll see it
If it sounds good, you'll hear it
If it's marketed right, you'll buy it
But...If it's real, you'll feel it

I have not been back to the shop yet but may do so this weekend. I'm sure it's still there.
