Sad. Thanks Jed. He was a wonderful gunsmith, and a heckuva nice guy. Visiting the Pumpkin Mountain Gunshop was a major part of vacationing at Indian Lake for me. I have a Stevens .22 bolt gun that came from there.

I'm guessing here...but know enough to say...my grand-dad's 1886 was likely one of his last big project's.

I'll never forget the target he had hanging on the wall, the one with a single .50 bullet hole dead center, fired by truck headlight to sight in the muzzle loader he finished building the night before bear season. Further down the wall hung the head of the bear he killed the next morning, with the second shot ever fired out of that gun.

One of the Whitetail mounts in the shop, I asked about it. Well he said "theres quite a story behind that one"...and went on to tell me how he bought the rack at the Syracuse NY show for 100$ then sent it to the taxidermist. He had a hell of a sense of humor.

Isnt that the Unibomber?

Great buck Jed. Public or private? I got my biggest near New Paltz on public land.

What's that one score,Ed?
RAS, Private land....the family farm. That buck grew up and lived in my mom's backyard. I found his sheds about 2 months before I made him dead.

Nice buck, Ed. When I took mine up, Don wheeled it right up onto the kitchen table while Claire was vacuuming, errrr, doing 'squaw work', as Don used to say it.

Is the shop still open, I've always wanted to visit it, it seems like every time I was out that way it was closed. But I've heard a lot of great stuff about it.
