I know Fox and Savage has something in common so that's why I'm asking here.
I have a chance to buy a Fox Model B SXS in 16 ga. It's in great shape and am wondering what it's worth.
Wood is rather plane and it's not walnut, otherwise gun is in good shape.
So what should I offer, it's from a good friend so I want to be honest with him.

There is a chatt on the 16ga society webpage. They are really good at value's on all 16gage shotguns. You might check that out. I have a few 16's and find it real interesting.16ga.com Forum Index

Ken has the right price in mind... and that gun was built by Savage well after they bought Fox in 1929 (the connection)... they call it a Fox model B but its has nothing at all to do with a real Fox shotgun...

yeah and the prices are way down on the run of the mill 16 gauge sterlingworths these days... you could probably pick up a pretty nice one for around $1000

Unless it's been restocked with a later (and worse) Stevens stock, it should be walnut stocked. I've had a few Model Bs and they were all walnut. Some were pretty darn plain, but not birch.

If it is a good friend then you do need to be honest. Fair would be $300.00 to $350.00. Remember it's not a sterlingworth.....I would know, I've got both....:
