As a out-of-stater, I'm not saying (your state) should change. I have no problem filling up before I decide to cross the border . It's my choice and I'm in no way telling anyone else what they should do. Of course I can understand the positve aspect of full-service, it's definatly better than no-service when someone needs it.

P.S. Wish there were more gentlemen like you out there. I may not have many years under my belt, but I'm just as old fashioned when it comes to that kinda stuff. Some of my hobbies may be more male oriented (playing guns, messing around with old cars, etc) but I like girly stuff too. I dress like a lady, I act like a lady, I do my hair and paint my nails, even wear heals now an again. I may be thinking about whether or not to build the rifle with a mauser action, but no one woud know it just by lookin at me. I still enjoy being treated like a lady -don't ever get me wrong about that.
It's pretty rare that anyone here in this 'oh so 'hip and progressive' state, knows how] to treat a lady (guess its not politically correct? ) or hold doors or offer help to folks who can use it. 98% of them are rude jerks. I hate it and it's just another reason why I can't wait to leave.

Anyway, Scott, you are a good man. Your wife is a lucky lady to have you.

We were talking about san francisco, a place I wont frequent, nor recommend anyone elso frequent. But let's not start this into a pissing contest. I'm not much impressed with a whole bunch of states in the US if you fellars care to go there with this. Dont panic, there are some of us here that will fill the air with lead if any of these liberal low lifes ever send someone our way looking to collect our weapons. Some of you boys havent figured out a whole bunch of us are rednecks here. Let me know when your Agricultural state farm production surpasses CA. Let me give you a hint, Fresno Co alone were it a state, is the largest Agricultural producing area in the United States. Now if you cant figure, I wll for you, farmers are rednecks, and I come from a farming background. Dont get your panties in a wad in Virginia..........

Can't argue with those facts, Aggiedog, but the problem is you guys are outnumbered about 100/1, which is why so many of them are leaving Kalifornia for redder states. I understand your frustration; we have the same problem here in TAX HELL WISCONSIN, which is why I'm soon going to be moving to another red state, South Dakota.. We just can't overcome the damned liberals in this state to achieve our CCW laws. It's vetoed every damned time by Dickhead-Doyle, our glorious governor...

After so many years of banging my head against a stone wall, I'm wondering why it feels so good when I stop???

No hard feelings on my end. I just get tired of a lot of newcommers to Oregon telling us we have got to let them pump their own. And about it eing cheeper, I put 32 gallons in my truck last Saterday at $2.25 a gallon and I see it has dropped a little. For the west that ain't bad and a nice young man in a clean uniform put it in the tank and washed mu windsheld too.

I am lucky, I found a great wife, it took me two tries but I found one. Now I want to keep her so I treat her like I should.

I have a friend in town, a lady of 42 years and I truly mean a lady. One of the reason I can be her friend is she dresses and acts like the lady she is. I never have to look away because she is "hanging out". She is selling the business she started five years ago to be a full time mom and homemaker, and, to restore classic cars, garden, ride her horses and a long list of other interests. I am amazed after all she does her hair is kept neat and her hands and nails are perfect. I doubt she does heals often as she has kept herself slender and fit but at 6'1" she must be 6" taller than her husband. I don't know how she does it but it makes for present person to be around. I will miss our friendship when I move and she sells her business.

Keep on holding out for Mr. Right. There are some still out there.

I have been banning myself from the leftwing homo-infested state of Kalifornia for 13 years and I see ZERO reason to ever go there again.

You claim the whole state is the same as a few small spots on a map. Over 90% of the State of California is straight laced, God fearing people. They are not homosexuals!! You leave out L.A., San Francisco Bay Area and south down the coast and the majority of the state is Republican. Over 80 & of the Governors we have had in California have been Republican(NOT COUNTING THE WIMP WE HAVE AS GOVERNOR NOW and well get rid of next year).

On the news Thursday the fellow that wrote Proposition H and the backers came out and sated they expect the bill to by overturned in the Appeals Court. The NRA filed suit In the Appeals Court Wednesday afternoon. Everyone expects the Court to throw out Proposition H, even the ones that wrote it. I cant figure why they went to the trouble.

Redneck,

For your information, the population of California is growing and that does not include legal or illegal aliens. Residents from other states are moving here in bunches..Lawdog

A coalition led by the National Rifle Association has said it plans to challenge the initiative in court, arguing that cities do not have the authority to regulate firearms under California law.

.

My question is: "Why isn't the NRA challenging this "law" as being a direct violation of the 2d Amendment Right To Keep And Bear Arms?!?!?!??!"

Because it is a rule of decision that courts avoid using the US Constitution to invalidate a statute if there is another basis to do so. In this case, even proponents of the measure admit it violates California law, and the court will throw it out on that basis.

I left the state of California and San Francisco permanently 35 years ago. Guess I I ain't totally stupid.
Unless things have changed, California still has a preemption law that prohibits cities from passing laws stricter than California state law. If that law is still in effect, [bleep] City has already lost. What a total waste of not only the NRA's money, but the sadly overtaxed people of California's money as well.

Regarding Oregon's not letting someone pump their own gas, let me relate an incident on that very subject. IIRC, it was sometime in 1980 or maybe 1981. I'd hooked up with my hunting buddy in Nevada and we were going to Oregon for an elk hunt. Well, we had to stop for gas and my buddy gets out of the truck and starts to pump the gas. This attendant comes out of the office screaming and cussing up one bloody hell of a blue streak. We both looked at him like he was daft. Hr grabs the hose from my buddy and continues to swear at us. My buddy, who is a seemingly slow person until he gets riled took that youg squit by the neck, made him look at the licesne plate, told him where we were from we pumped out own gas because nobody else would do it, and that if he did not stop cussing at us, he would find himself getting an enema from that gas pump. By buddy is a very large man and he'd have done it too. The rude loudmouthed guy shut up. Never did get any kind of an apology from that punk. However, we did write a letter of complaint addressed to the owner of the gas station. I've always wondered if junior kept his job?

Lawdog,

I didn't say all of you are homos. I said your state was "infested" with them. It means you have way too many and you have my sympathy.

You can point to all the normal folks you know all day long but the electoral results are pretty well set in stone (or so it would appear). Your once fine state is solidly to the left now.

Good Luck!

The Bill of Rights is just that. It is not the Bill of Needs as determined by some liberal know it all.

Politicians and diapers should be changed often for precisely the same reason.

Maybe you got newer info than I have, but just over a month ago it was reported that for the first time, the population in CA was decreasing due to people moving OUT of the state. The land acquisition booms in MT, WY, CO etc., by EX-residents of CA go more to confirm this... (again, excluding the illegals who are moving IN in droves..)

I'm sure that much of the problem is the fact that all we hear on the news here in TAX HELL WISCONSIN is the liberal news slants from the fanatical left in CA, the 9th Circus Court's wild law opinions and the rest of the wierdos who find news outlets only too happy to give them a 'face'...

Yet, if there are so many conservatives, how are all these liberal-leftist laws passed on a near-daily basis?? It's just insane out there.

Redneck,

I wish that some would move out. The ones that are moving in are causing the prices on house and land to sky rocket. A 20 year old, 1,500 sq. ft. home on a quarter of an acre will cost at least $250,000(in the Bay Area it will cost closer to a million) where you could buy it 10 years ago for $35,000.

Now according to the State Registrars office the Republicans out number the Democrats. Historically California is a Republican state. The real problem in California is the major money is controlled by big business and the old saying is true. So goes the money, so goes the state. Its big business that is behind politicians the likes of our Wimpminator Governor, Don Perata and his cohorts and its these Politicians that we have to kick out of office. 2006 would be a good time to start. The people are real Pissed doff at the Governor for calling for the special election we just had that cost the State somewhere in the neighborhood of $80,000,000 that the state couldnt afford. This was done as a power play by the Governor and it blew up in his face. Every ballot issue that the Governor backed and supported went down in flames. In 2006 were going to send him down in flames.

Yeah, and they're coming after cashing out inflated real estate equities and/or pensions based on California salaries, and driving up the cost of real estate in the new locations. Same thing is happening on the Gulf Coast and Florida with the folks from the NE. I predict that in a few years all the areas in the country that are considered especially desirable will be priced so high that only folks who are well established with a fat nest egg will be able to afford to move or live there. Everyone else in the podunk states with low cost housing and salaries will be stuck there.

Lawdog, I'm with you, keep hearing how much everyone hates us Californians, but damn, they keep boiling over the borders. Took the boys pheasant hunting this morning, We made a few hunts in the rice fields, ended up getting 3 roosters in about 50 minutes, decided to call it a day. We'll go after a few more next weekend. It's always fun to see your boys have fun hunting. With the Sutter buttes as a backdrop, heck, life just doesnt get much better.

San Franciscos people have been inundated with socialist liberal ideas ever since I can remember. I remember in 1978, when I was stationed at treasure island, my friends and I would go into town. That was the first time I ever saw a city so infested with sex clubs and open homosexuality that it was repulsive. This occurred by teaching kids in the schools the beliefs of the socialists . Every thing American was bad, the evil white men beating down the minorities, the horrid oppression of homosexuality. Could it be that the cities crime problem is caused by moral decay. The removal of God and all his teachings and the replacement with socialist ideas? This is not the country I sought to serve. This is the result of what we allow in our schools, what we pay them to teach. It is in the end OUR FAULT for our long lack of diligence.

Agree, I dont frequent that slime infested city for a whole bunch of reasons. They outlawed pesticides a few years back, and had to backpeddle and allow a few when they realized the city was getting overrun with rats and mice. Weird people with weird ideas. And let's make no mistate about it, many, many people living in SF are from Europe. Dont ever buy in on this BS from Democrats that we need to be like Europeans, like hell we do, those people are lazy and screwed up.

Sounds like you're hunting the fields east of Chico. We're hunting just north of that area. People hating California doesn't bother me as much as those that are calling us communist or insinuating such with off the wall comments(by purposely miss-spelling California with a K or calling it PRK - last I heard it was The United States of America so I don't know when it was changed to the Peoples Republic of The United States of America?) whether they think it's funny or just being cute. Veterans in California don't like it and don't thing it's funny. I attended the funeral of my second cousin seven months ago after he was killed by a roadside bomb outside of
Baghdad. He was a California Democrat too. Lawdog
