OK, new request. Rather than buying an assembled AR, I want to go with quality parts. The main thing I want is a flat top upper with a fully floated hand guard, and a 24" full bull barrel in .308, preferably from Krieger, Bartlein or Rock.

I'm assuming you are meaning an AR-10/LR-308/SR-25 sized rifle?

Krieger I suspect probably offers drop ins. if thats the case you need a few tools like reciever blocks and off you go.
Parts wise it always varies as to who is having the best run at the time, and or if they have any specific chitty parts... like buy this brand for parts, but NOT the carrier etc.....
IMHO I'd call John ask him whats what on parts, and he'd probably sell you what you need parts wise. His method was buy whats out there IF its good. Find out what parts are not good of the above, and buy all but them, find the better "carrier" for expample and buy it another source. And finally if its say the carrier and NO one is making a good one, sub out and have 100 or X amount made to spec....
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

Since GAP and Noveske choose to build with Armalite stuff, I'd look there for the AR-10 parts and install a Krieger barrel, float tube of your choice.

Rost, Your post infers that there is more to building an accurate AR than assembling the correct parts together. If John 'builds' an accurate AR, how can I possibly 'build' an accurate AR?
