Are there any Custom Smiths that are Women?

Just engraving doesn't make you a Custom Smith building rifles only a helper.

Sharon Dressel is the only one I know of the has actually built a complete rifle or shotgun.

Engravers are not gunmakers. They are artists who embellish metal.

I think you are not quite being honest here, I consider custom gunwork artistry. Don't you?

But engravers are not artists who build guns.

You're not being very nice to Jkob... frown

Top quality gunsmithing IS artistry in a sense, although not bling...

Jim deserves better than that, IMHO.

I assume the OP is asking about rifles, but I know of one female 1911 pistolsmith who does very nice work: Marianne Carniak.

Rachel Wells does engrave guns, but is perfectly capable of building guns. She owns Wells and Wells Custom Guns. She has a fully equipped shop and is still producing fine weapons.

Jim,

Never said gunwork was not artistry.

But gun engraving only is NOT gunsmithing.
