OK, $500 OTD is the limit. Prefer mil and turrets but don't absolutely require it as best optics still wins in the end. After some running around it I've come down to:

Bushnell Elite Tactical 1" 5-15x40.
This appears to be what had been their 3200 version as the other scopes in the "tactical" series are priced much higher. Of course, lots of people liked the 3200's for the money.

Vortex Viper HS 30mm 5-15x44
I'm under the impression this is a Midway exclusive. If true I'm not sure what that means different in regards to what to expect from the scope, if anything.

Any opinions about the two scopes would be greatly appreciated. Also any last minute nominations would be considered.

I actually spotted that 6.5-20 Viper in the Optics forum and that's a HELL of a deal. It's a bit higher at the low end than I had in mind and it's the Plex reticle but yeah, for the money...

Looks like they're only available with the Duplex and BDC reticle. How is their BDC on precision?

This is going on a WOA Varmint so some of this scopes application is going to be trying to put little groups on things as well as wayward varmints.

I have a Nikon 6-18x on my WOA Varmint and would not mind at all if it was 6-24x - 6 more than fine for the low end for them IMHO... I would pick up the big Viper for that price in a heartbeat...
