Hi;
does anyone have a Blaser R8...any model?
I was interested in the "Professional" in .375 H7H...or the Semi Weight, but I read the R93 thread here...and there were quite a few negative comments about the reliability, quality and design of the "straight back bolt" that has me wondering.
It seemed like a whole bunch of cool innovation, and Germans usually build good stuff?

thanks

Also have a look at the bigbore section above for what i think. They are a great rifle and very reliable. Definitely go for the R8.

There are a few Blaser owners here but, generally, I would say its safe to say there is a bias for traditional bolts here and against nontraditional rifles like the R93 and R8.

I had an R93 with three barrels including a 375 that went to Africa with me and performed perfectly. They are very good rifles in many ways. If you have your heart set on an R8 go for it; I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Check out Blaserpros and Blaserbuds though for more input.

blasers are great guns, I think people look down upon them and complain about them because they don't own one and can't afford one. if you want a take down rifle look no further. they are also one of the most accurate rifles out there. the problem is good god they are expensive, even for a basic one you are talking 4k the scope mounts are expensive and barrels are 6-700. I kinda wanted one for a while but the reality is I can have a full blown custom with the custom action of my choice bedded into a mcmillan stock, and all put together by a great gunsmith for want a blaser would cost me. if they could get the gun down to around 2 grand I might be alot more interested.
