What is the going rate on lowers? Got a shot at a S & W MP15 stripped lower for $80 new in the box. Is that a deal? or other reccomendations? Magnum Man

Around here S&W lowers are running close to $150.

It's a fine lower. I don't think it will object to having a 7.62 upper on it.

$80. is a pretty good deal for any lower, except the poly lowers, these days.
Laws aren't preventative measures. In other words, more laws won't prevent gun crime from happening.

I've been looking all over. Last year I remember seeing sales on stripped lowers in the $65 range but can't find anything now that I'm ready to buy. I would say wait and watch some of the forums for a group buy but with it being an election year prices might stay high for a while. I found stripped PSA lowers local for $75 out the door, think I'm going to pick up one or two.

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

$80 is a good deal.....see lowers advertised for as lil as $50 course after you pay shipping and whatever your FFL charges your back up to $80 or above.....i would jump most any decent brand for $80 locally.....short of having your own FFL or getting in on a group by its gonna be hard to get much lower i would think....

Well I picked it up and it's a done deal. A friend of mine told me that the 7.62x 39 allways seems to have mag issues. I don't need issues, so now I'm thinking about a 20" stainless med weight barrel with a 1 in 7 or 1 in 8 twist so I can use some of these long ,heavy slinky .224 bullets. Ideas? Magnum Man

Hi, about 3 years ago I bought a Model1 Sales 20 in stainless extra heavy barrel to replace the one on my 6.8 tactial upper. I am very happy with it. It shoots better than the 22-250 rifles that I had. I have a 10 power Super Sniper scope on it. Randy

Magnum Man If you're going to want to shoot 80 gr. or heavier bullets DEFINITELY go with a 1:7 twist barrel. That's all us high power shooters use.
