Did Ruger ever actually ship any of these rifles?
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Check on rimefirecentral. I read a bit there that there was a problem with the 17HMR in these rifles and Ruger didn't ship any if I rember correct. I think there was a way to convert one and do it safly though, George

I have one but in a custom 77/22. It has an after-market, graphite, bull barrel which gives rigidity w/o the extra weight. It is scarey accurate.

the 77/22 and variants are bolt guns. I am looking for the 10/22 platform in 10/17 which is a semi-auto. I know ruger released some of them but had concerns with safety of the ammo or something along that line.

I haven't seen one of those for sale before...not to say they don't exist...but I'm guessing if it is that rare it is going to be pretty spendy considering the regular 10/22 magnums go for $700 or more. I would look at a Volquartsen- I have one in .17 hmr and it is fantastic. Patterned after the 10/22 magnum but all custom CNC machined...very nicely built rifles. They also make 25 round mags for them

The Volquartsen version is what I remember reading on rimefire that was the safe version. Rimefire had a great thread on this issue of the 17HMR in the 10/22 style rifles. Ruger had a problem with the bolt, seems there is more thrust with the 17HMR round. George
