I'm just finishing a project where I've bedded a Remington 581 into a 541 stock. Plan is to mount a 3-15x Nitrex scope (heavy) and I'm looking for advice as to the best scope mount for the grooved receiver.

BKL makes just about nothing but ring systems for grooved receivers.... Have used quite a few sets in the past and they have never moved.

My son-in-law put a set of BKLs on his CZ452 American, and they are a real quality product.

On RF rifles with grooved/dovetailed receivers that aren't factory d&t for bases, I always use the B-Square 3/8" grooved dovetail to Weaver adapters. A set of these B-Sqare adapters and whatever Weaver style rings you like the best will be a good choice.

I've been using Burris Z Signatures with the plastic offset inner rings that can be used to center the scope without having to use the scope's adjustments off center.
I've like being able to use the rings to get you close to center.
Never had a problem with over a dozen rimfires, also they are easy on the scope tube, never had a mark on any.

+1 on the Burris. I have also used Millet rings, in fact that is what came with my CZ American new about 2002 IIRC. I've had heavy scopes in the Millet rings and they never moved.

Leupold makes a set that will match the factory finish and slight curved dovetail on your Remington perfectly. But they aren't cheap. Last set I bought for my 541 were 70.00. But I will say they looked like they were built just for that action so that eased the pain a little.

Especially on a small receiver, liking the S&K mounts. The rings are minimalist. I don't doubt the quality of the others, just don't care for the way the rings pinch out/bolt way out in space. Clunky to my eyes.
