Thanks, RS

For more than 20 years all I'd carry was a Quaker Boy Old Boss Hen but for the past 8-10 (?) I'll use a variety of double our triple reed jobbers. For a few years I had great luck with Knight & Hale products & Kitts. At this point, I'll run with whatever is in the vest and not all stuck together!

I've been using the Primos A Frames as of late.

Started with the "Old Boss Hen" in late 80's but everyone and their brother was blowing it so changed up to Butski,Blodgett, and lately Woodhaven Red Wasp ....hear ya about stuck together

The few times I've tried mouth calls were ginormous failures, like impossible. (5-10 years ago).
Has there been any new calls or educational aids that might make mouth calls work for me? What kind?

Just ordered these... WoodHaven Red Wasp Diaphragm Call Maestro Hunter's 3 Pack by Paul Butski Paul Butski makes good calls, and he really knows how to use them. I've had the pleasure of hunting with him, he is a top notch man.

My favorite is the Yargis from MADD. The HS Old Raspy is not too bad either.

I've always been a Quacker Boy "Old Boss Hen" fan myself, but a buddy of mine has been after me for a couple of years to try some Hooks mouth calls. I decided to order their Hunter's 3 call pack. Best sounding and easiest to use mouth calls I've tried yet. Been very impressed with them.

For the last few years, I buy about any double or triple reed call that is on clearance at the end of the season. They all work.

I carry an embarassment of calls but do most of my hunting with a Primos Cuttin' hen in my mouth. Hooks makes a good call, Ray Eye's stuff is good. Basically everybody makes a good call, finding the one that suits you means trying a bunch. And the bad thing is no one is going to lend you one for a trial run I truly think that most of the time any call will work and knowing when and how much or little to call is vastly more important. I've called a fair number of birds to the gun by mouth with no call (and at times, as in duck calling, I believe it's more effective). I've been lucky enough to hunt with some super turkey hunters, spent a fair amount of time with Ben Lee in the '70's (my brother shot his first turkey while leaning against Ben's belly when he was 14) and what they were the very best at was being a good woodsman first (knowing terrain and what turkeys tend to do in certain places) and calling next. I can't keep from carrying a bunch of calls though. Just in case.

I really like Billy Yargus' calls. His Soft Touch by MAD is the easiest and best sounding diaphram I carry, does great with soft calls or hard calls.
