I do agree with a voter ID law, can't really figure out why a registered voter doesn't or shouldn't have one. It does need to not crimp people who do not have homes such as people renting rooms, sharing apartments in other people's names etc.

Which gets us into the other ID issue that seems to share constitutional ramifications. Why is it not okay to ask to see ID to make it easier to identify and ship illegals back across the border? A US citizen should have ID of one form or another and this certainly breaks me away from lib attitudes to say that I think anyone who looks like they are Mexican in problem border states should be able to be asked for ID.

What's the difference here?

The major difference between belief and fact is those who believe something have come to a conclusion no facts will contradict. Well informed people are open to new facts that oppose their beliefs. That also defines an open and closed mind.

Virginia requires some sort of photo ID (driver's license, etc.) to vote. I have to show ID to board a plane or enter a secure building; why not for voting also? Ive got no problem with this.

ID can be requested before a beer is delivered to my table. I have no issues with showing one to vote.

I think EVERYONE should show ID before being allowed to vote. For the life of me, I can't see how you can prevent voter fraud otherwise.
