Concerning the offensive or demeaning posts: My first thought, thats, it so much for that!
After thinking about it for awhile, I arrived at this:

Unfortunately, this world is full of people who have a compulsion to lord it over those who may not yet have a handle on everything to the extent they think they do "Those" being, AKA (also known as), LEGENDS IN THEIR MINDS.

Is it too much to wish for those who have knowledge (real or imagined) to just ratchet-down their self-indulgence a couple notches and realize that, no matter how good they think they are on the grasp of various topics, there DOES exist in this world others who ARE BETTER... WHO KNOW MORE THAN THEY? (do not take the others referred to as Me my head is not nearly that fat, thank you!~)

I close with this thought; Legends: what things/persons are perceived to be by OTHERS! (NOT what you perceive of yourself)

[and] By the Way, I am not going anywhere. I came here to joke, laugh and learn something.
If you do not feel that way expect me to pi$$ in your pocket continually

Idajo,

As you, I know that there are only a small , very small group of men or women that are really experts in the field of firearms and/or ballistics. That being said, why is it that every time I mean EVERY TIME, that I walk into a gun shop, I meet at least two of them?
I have also noticed that a lot of GUN WRITERS have excellent sights on their typewriters (computers)
Cheers,
Jim

Idahjo,
I also find it interesting that there are those that will profess in absolute terms- "it only works this way!" But, over time may change to a new current line of thinking of what works best. Maybe this comes from the need to have total confidence in your load & equipment to do well. By presenting a case for a load etc. in no uncertain terms, may reinforce that confidence- at least until you have a NEW revelation
I've been thinking that you're intials must be JB- am I wrong? .......Dennis

Pathfinder,

i am not certain what you are saying in this post, but I am pretty damn sure I disagree with whatever it is.

Anyone that says it's my way or the highway, or that I have superior knowledge and know the only way this will really work. Is a damn fool and 99% of the time wrong. There are a lot of those fellers involved in BPCR and as I said most of them are idiots. However to not have confidence in your shooting ability, your load, your rifle and other equipment makes any shooter just as much of a jack ass as the "know it all guy". The shooter also must be aware that technque, loading skill, and your own knowledge are not only variable but change from time to time. If you want to succed at this shooting thing you damn well need to able to make changes in your thought patterns as well as the way you do things and approach the shooting sports. No shooter is served by becoming stagent and unbending in his attitude or his way of doing things. Without some degree of confidence, a word you seemed to spit out in your post, we all would be better off just staying home.

Quite right guys... I learned a long time ago that there were two milestones in life that were automatically accompanied with a HUGE amount of knowledge
(1) buying a gun (2) buying a car!!

Just try to find a self-professed "bad" driver... (even after he just crashed it into the ditch)

[pathfinder] My initials are currently A.H.; like in "A$$ etc..."

Gunny,
Search as I may, I don't see where we have different observations- maybe just stated differently! And, let me state for the reccord, that I do absolutely believe that you must have CONFIDENCE in every aspect of your shooting to do well! I also fall into the Crank category, trying many different things (which I also believe to be about 90% of BPCR shooters) and I'm not afraid to share what seems to be working for me. I would hope that I would never come accross as it is "The only way to go!".
Idahjo,
Sorry-Due to your location & username, I was begining to think that you were a feller that I met at Raton this year that gave me a pound of powder. ....Dennis

I'll just throw in to this spirited discussion ..........one observation....................and this as a " GUN writer"(not really my words, Reckon more along the lines of a RIFLE writer), and as a crank / builder.......................

The more I learn about this , the more confused I become.

I will look at score building, and reliable match to match perfomance value, in the riflles I put together..........as a baseline, for any decisions, and re-adjustments of my basic formulas.

A "Category A" rifle will happily go to work, and start shooting well, with the first thing you dump in to it. Not necessarily perfectly accurate...but competitive, from the get go.........this is verifiable, should someone go into outrage mode, and demand witnesses to this FACT................(.a cautionary note, I'm pretty busy right now, and should some testimonials be required , by the ENSO ( this is an acronym coined out here in the desert SW.......for........ nay saying obstructors), it will not be a particularly gentle, or kissy feely , huggy process, and will be embarrassing to the demandors, in the extreme.

A " Category B " rifle provides endless time for wild extrapolation and Grotesque quantities of raw product, powder, alloy , lubes, etc. etc. etc." Load development "is a never ending saga.

It is way Hell of a lot more fun tuning match grade loads, and tweaking them into a final accuracy parameter, with a Cat. A rifle, than screwing around with bargain basement ......" Half The Price" barrels, actions, sights.............in the " Category B" mode....That being ....................................................................................looking for the least odiforous corner, in a pile of $hit.

I'll just settle for watching the gold (Medals), and wins pile up, myself.

Dennis, do not be 'sorry'; nice being mistaken for someone who is a 'nice guy' (even if it was wrong)

Well, Kelley O., it's a lot like the loss of memory on "uphole flood".........................and, in terms of embarasment, well, maybe that's just not quite the way a guy should put it..........the simple fact is that a lot of high flown rhetoric is dragging it's di$k in the dirt.....................and fast twist button rifled .38's are eating Badger 1 in 15"dust..........This ain't theory, it's FACT.

On another note . entirely,..............how are you guys making out with the drive-by slappings, and kleenex throwing violence, out there in Kal. ?

C-F,

Yea, I know about those fast twist 38's and the Badger story. Maybe Badger should just make wind flag poles.

It's called "Drive By Bitch Slapping" and hankie waving thrown in. Thank goodness I'm not involved.

Kelley O.

PS, I still have the pictures of the,"uphole flood" The way I chamber a barrel And the amount of chambering I do, I really don't need to make one up. The double barreled spicket ladle is something I will make.
