I finally have the Nambu Type 94 handgun my dad brought back from Okinawa after the war. It has been residing in my sister's safe for a long time but I was under the impression that it had disappeared.

It is in need of a good cleaning but the rust looks minimal. Even the leather holster is in good condition and the serial number on the magazine matches the pistol. I will check with a gunsmith to see if the gun is in good enough condition to shoot. If so, I have to try to get some 8x22 ammo for it.

Those are actually neat guns and pretty strong.

That's a very unique gun, one to hold onto! Thanks for sharing the pics with us, I've never seen one of those before. Was that a standard issue sidearm for the Japanese military during WWII?

Very cool. I suspect that The Old Western Scrounger or Buffalo Arms would have ammo for it.

I've read somewhere that is was supposed to be used by flight crew because of it's smaller size. It was also cheaper to produce than the more popular Type 14. My dad told me about it once back in the late 50's but I was pretty young then and really do not remember the story. I also have 4 rounds that were still loaded in the magazine.
