Chopped and restocked a 45-70 Handi. It's now just under 30" long and weighs a nice swamp-stompin' 5.3lbs. 16.25 inch barrel and ready to pound some pork!

I was able to sell the camo laminate stock it originally came with, so my total project cost including the donor rifle was just $185. I thought about getting a shotgun back scabbard, but the little beast is shorter than the scabbard itself!

I'll only be shooting factory equivalent loads in it, since I don't plan on shooting it past 50yds.

As you can see, my Guide Gun dwarfs it by comparison.

I really like it. It should be very accurate. Factory loads will do just fine for as far as you can hit with it.

don't wrap your thumb over the top of the stock, else you may hit your nose in recoil!

Neat idea!

My Handi in 444 weighs over 8lbs with a 3-9x40 and a buttstock ammo carrier. It kicks enough for me with the 265gr/2350fps loads. "Chopping" it and ditching optics is an interesting idea, but it's actually a good killer out to 200-250yds. Have fun with that little thumper.....

Cool little rifle.

Makes that GG look like a full size rifle.

I expect that "Handi" to put a "hurt" on the user!

Should be a joy to tote.

I believe that is indeed a "pocket rifle"
