I've been interested in one of these since I first heard about them. (I'd be even more interested if Weatherby (Howa) would build them in SS!) I haven't seen one around PDX yet. Anybody have one?

Oh, and since I'm dreaming, how about a stainless Vanguard in 7mm Weatherby?

Please stop... That'd make FAR too much sense!

I picked up a take-off 7 RM tube as a SOMEDAY rechamber to 7mm Mashburn... But if they'd get thier act together w/ a 7mm Bee, that'd be a non-issue!

I've dropped a few hints to the wife for a graduation present.

I would like to see this cartridge get a ressurection/new life breathed into it as well. I probably wouldn't buy one since I have a Mauser in the very similar 6mmAI but the little 240 would be a great round and be king of the factory 24's. Would be an awsome Coyote rifle, too.

I have the only one I know of in this part of the world. So far I like the rifle and chambering. The S2 is a better rifle than the original vanguard and what's not to like about a fast 6mm. I haven't decided on a load but the 95gr Berger with IMR 4831 is shooting the best so far for me. Going to try some 105 A-max with H4831 in the morning.

Sask, how's she shooting for you? Sub-MOA like Weatherby claims?

In what ways are they better? Have they made any major changes?

KDX, it does better than the moa claim. Most groups with loads in likes are in the .5-.75 MOA range at 100 or 200. I haven't really shot farther yet.

GB, new trigger new finish and a better [bleep] stock are all better. The 1MOA guarentee and the 240wby are all welcome upgrades over the old series.

Weatherby is sold out of the first batch already. I actually called Weatherby and was told the next available run of 240's wouldn't arrive at dealers until late summer. I guess they didn't intend on it being so popular. You can find a few on Gunbroker, but be prepaired for a good gouging. I'm going to wait until my dealer gets them.

I've got two of the old MOAs. The one I have in 7-08 will shoot .778" @ 100yrds with Remington Green/Yellow box 140 gr. Core-Lokt. The only thing I dislike about them is the safety locks down the bolt, and the adjustable triggers adjust from bad to worse.

I am glad Weatherby is bringing back the stainless rifles. When I bought mine, they had suspended production on the stainless.

My 240 that I built off a tang safety Ruger 77 sports a 26 inch douglas barrel, and is literally a wild pig killing machine. Ive run 100 grain partitions for the pigs, but will switch to tsx's the next time i take it for a ride.

It's a shame the Vanguard only has a 24" barrel, I'd rather see a 26" available.

I used to think that until I played with the vanguard 257 wby, it outruns my rem 700 with the same load. besides, you really only loose 30-40 fps, and the critter wont notice it.

True, but if I'm paying the extra $$ for Weatherby brass, I want every drop of performance I can get.
