Nah, back in Peru... both sets of grandparents. Has made for a couple of years of being 24/7 with the kids. At least for my wife, when I take call it's all her taking of the little ones, finally we had a little time off earlier this year and left them with the inlaws and my parents
Hope this trip works for you and family. Fun time with soon to be friends.

Back when I did more beach camping, I had four pieces of stainless rod that I had cut out from old whip antennas They were about 3' long. I'd stick them into the sand on the four corners of my tent and they'd hold it against the wind. This was at a time when the dome tent did not exist. My tent had an interior frame, a single pole in the center attached by some short ropes in the center of a square of tubing that fit the inside of the tent. It was a pretty good system that actually was pretty easy to put up and take down.

Putting weight in the tent worked just fine guys, like your gear. My tent didn't blow away. Excuse me, Birdys new tent. .
I followed your lead and gave him a cooler that trip. And a pound of scallops. Said the stuff would be put to good use for outings he takes kids on, which is great stuff. Note: I ever see a Mike's Used Camping Gear shop next time, me and him are having words.
L, that tent was an old one, broken zipper on front, tore tie down loops around the floor area but that sucker held up to the wind on the beach. Hope he was able to get the sand out and off. We slept good cause that old tent held up. Ate good cause we had lobster from a sligltly used cooler that withstood the beatings your favorite air line gave it. Win win situation.
Next trip, let's catch some big fish.

Roger, I've been on the beach all my life and never seen that water bucket-tarp-tent-kite thingy done. I was impressed.
Yeah, he's pretty resourceful. Learned a bunch back in the day when he was working coyote late shift. He didn't last long, though, as he couldn't bring himself to actually sneak them in, but instead took them in a big circle, and after they paid him, he pointed at the fence and river, and said, "bueno suerte". Little did they know he'd spun them around, and they were sneaking back IN...
But agree. Never work here consistently, as we just don't get the wind you guys do, but in a pinch and in the right conditions, works a charm.

Have to start looking for some kind of a bait casting rig for the beach area soon.
Don't worry about what season it is. I'll be bringing my Magic Conch (I am seen in the video), and will blow the secret Turtle Girls call until she shows. They simply cannot resist the call of the conch!
P.S. That's not the Turtle Girl call I'm demonstrating. That's the Rich and Still Very Hot Divorcee Meet Me At the Tiki Bar After This call from back in the day.

Careful, might work on Pat too.
The degree of concern for rare and endangered sea turtles Pat exhibited when the turtle girls showed up was just heartwarming.
