Quick post...9.3x62 for medium size game...deer, hogs, etc. Too much? Who has experience?

I have one being put together as we speak. Shilen #3 already on a 98 FN military Mauser, now ready for the bluing tanks.

Next order will be bullets, brass and dies.

Pulls the rug out from underneath deer, and bowls hogs over.

I'm kinda overboard on bullet weight by a few opinions, but I use the 320 gn Woodleigh and RL-17 for 2400 fps from a 25" barreled Heym Mauser action with quarter rib express sights.

I had my rifle built for a Bear hunt in Kamchatka, hasnt happened yet, but it will, this set-up will do nicely out to 300 yds, and meshes perfectly with my 505 Gibbs, it fires a 600 gn Woodleigh at 2400, and both rifles shoot to the same POI out to 100 yds, and the 9.3 is way mo easier and fun for practice shooting with the sights and off sticks.

A search will turn up an a$$load of information. I put mine together, a custom FN, in 2000 for a plains game hunt in Africa and, of course, all was fine up through eland with the 250 gr X. Too much really doesn't matter if you enjoy shooting the rifle.

You need one.

A very typical group. Does this with any flavor 250gr. I stuff into it.

Not too much. I was pleasantly surprised by the recoil. Granted mine was a heavy CZ550. Good brass (Lapua) and good bullets. I shot the lime green BTs. I don't think Nosler makes those any more.

The 9.3 was simply a novelty for me and eventually went down the road.

Don't you know, ole Elmer would have liked them...

That's like the one ole Larry Root, aka Interthem, etc., etc., et. al., was parading around the Fire. I think it was a European model, IIRC.

Savage sorta wrote the book on ugly when they dreamed up that one...

May be why Larry was so attracted to it.

I recall some dust up about that one Mr. Root had as well. This seller claims to have a bunch of this dealer exclusive in stock. If the damn stock was not orange....

Could be the same one Larry was selling, given his reported tendency to use internet gun photos as "inventory"...

As much as it pains me to say, Ingwe is right on this!!!!

Ingwe usually makes pretty good sense.

250 gr TSX & 55 gr of 3031 gives best velocity in these shorter barrels and either will hold 1 moa or better.
