To all you trappers. could you give me some idea on some good scents to use for hunting such as dear, Bear etc.? Being trappers you definately would have some great ideas.

The best scent I have found for deer and bear hunting is having the wind in my face.

Other then that, and making sure I don't smell like last nights beer and pizza fest, I don't use any.

SS, For bear, try some anise(smells like Sambuca/licorice) and beaver castor mixed in with hot bacon grease. Stir until the grease sets and then you can smear this mixture into the bark of a tree so the bear has to work to get it out. You can find the above ingredients at a trapping supply store.

I don't use lure for deer, so I can't suggest anything.

River Otter's bear scent is roughly the same as mine - For deer I like buck urine with tarsal gland. I haven't had very consistent luck with estrus urines but the tarsal buck urine has been consistently good. If you can get your hands on some tarsal glands from a rutting buck freeze them and use every time you go out -- Re-scent with bottled buck urine each day.

Had a friend tell me he carries black licorice with him to attract bears, so the Anise suggestion would be along the same lines, The only thing I've seen that attracts deer are other deer, Vern.
