Two scholars, one liberal and one conservative, just came out with a new book: "Its Even Worse Than It Looks, How The American Constitutional System Collided With The New Politics Of Extremism"

Couldn't have said it better; some of the kooky ideas coming from the far Right (which is sadly virtually the entire Republican Party) are truly bizarre beyond description.

Ornstein and Mann are NOT a conservative and a liberal. They are Brookings guys from way back, pure governmentalists, have never seen a government program they didn't want taxes raised for. In short, balanced-budget socialists.
Never mind that "conventional understanding of facts" is the sort of misunderstanding and delusion that has America in such a fix.
