That time of year again guys! We made our annual trip to the "West" for turkeys. We are a group of 4 guys and we all hunt together here locally and when our season is wrapped up and tags are filled at home, we head out "West" to chase the birds a little longer.

This year we went to OK, TX, CO, and KS in that order. We had a blast as always and it was lots of fun to spend time together with the guys.

We started slowly and found the hunting a little tough early on in OK and TX. The early spring, warm weather, and rain contributed to early breeding and very green conditions across this region this year. The wheat was about 1 month ahead of schedule and VERY tall. Really tough conditions. We managed to kill a few though! From there we closed with a bang and really did well in CO and KS and loads of fun. Conditions there were tough but much more doable and we ended the trip on a high note.

Those are dandy birds. You hunting in Southern Colorado east of the Interstate? I used to hunt down around Kim and also further west from Trinidad up to Walsenburg.

Yep. We hunted SE Colorado in the canyon country a little further SE of Kim. Beautiful place. Yeah, we got several birds that had some nice hooks on them for sure. Thanks for the kind words.

Where in OK do you hunt? We hunt out in Western Oklahoma on some pvt land and public land at Black Kettle. Great pics, what a trip!!

Another great trip, bud! Enjoyed every minute of it...except stepping on that rattler.

7mm08, we hunted the NW part of the state but not the panhandle. We hunted near Black Kettle last year but hunted up by the KS border this year.

Those Rattlers in TX were pretty unsettling. Glad you stepped on it instead of me! If the other member of our party had done it, he would have died right there!
