JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

My Hornet: How much? Need more information......
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Pal, I ran across a very nice std wt 30-06 that looked just like yours except this one had a pachmayer decelerator on it instead of the whiteline pad.......I did everything I could to keep from buying that thing....

A few weeks ago, I asked for help from the Campfire members to find a good Model 70 in 300 H&H. I advertised in the classified as a WTB. Well, I had a few offers from the members who owned 300 H&Hs, but didn't see anything that that really excited me. I had several members refer me to Perry County Fireams in Central PA, and I gave them a call. They actually had several to pick from and I chose a 1955 with a raised comb and in 95 to 97% condition. I also had a member offer a couple of boxes period W-W 180 gr Silvertip Ammo that I accepted. Thanks to all that contributed. Have a look. donsm70 Drooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

Hey winpoor! Good to see you over here now, it's been awhile. Hi Exbio, Im still waking up wanting to do the 'Frank Church' hunt.. A couple of 90's mod 70's that I love, gave the 30-06 to new son in law for wedding present. Now to put him on a nice whitetail.

Here's my Model 70 Laredo LRH 7mm Remington Magnum. 26 inch non Boss barrel, Talley mounts, scope is a Tasco Euro-Class 5x20-44 mm. Shots 162 gr A-Max @ 2970 fps and groups 3 inches @ 400 yards. 1971 PF in 308 that I built. Was a 243 and I trued the action and put a factory take off 308 on. Has a Tubbs speed lock firing pin, Boyds JRS stock, Nikon 3x9-40 scope in Warne rings. Late 80's PF in 300 H&H Magnum with a Redfield Ultimate Illuminator 3x12-56mm in Leupold QRW rings and Boyds Varmiter stock. 80's PF Carbine in 223 with Leupold Vari-x II 3x9-40 W/AO 80's PF Carbine in 30/06 with factory sights. Added a peep and it works great. Good little mountain gun.

You are winchester poor and not a bad state to be in. I had a 7mm Laredo, anotherone I souldn't have let get away. I was in Frank Church on the Salmon back in mid April. Very rugged and beautiful country.
