My .223 Rem. shoots very well with the 40 grain V-Max and I was looking to trying the Z-Max; now I am told this line of bullets is no longer being produced. Anyone know why?

The Z-Max is the same exact thing as the V-Max. All they did was change the tip color.

Because it was stupid, in a very juvenile kind of way.

I'd go as far as calling it a bit irresponsible.

Yeah...it was discontinued because it was stupid...and P.T. Barnum was right, so they sold a LOT...

OTOH I enjoyed the close-out price I got on a buttload of PD and goph bullets! grin

I got mine. A 22lr to the head is a more deadly , uh...
anyway...
It de-animates them better than a 12ga slug to the chest.

There ya go....grin.

All it would have taken is one "buffy the vampire slayer" kid to shoot up the school lunchroom with his dad's mini-14 stoked with z-max.......Hornady would be sued into bankruptcy.

I think I've found out what I needed (wanted?) to know!

Thanks,

So where did you hear the Z-Max was discontinued?

Probably the guy that was mixing up the plastic for the tips messed up and made them the wrong color. wink Hornady got them at a discount because they were the wrong color, threw together a clever marketing campaign and sold them out. Lemons into lemonade! grin

Who told you that? Because I am going to go out on a limb and guess it was not Hornady.

I think it was Black Hills Shooters Supply or some name close to that.

MD,

Black Hills Shooters Supply did not list them in their current flyer, so I called to find out why, and was informed Hornady had discontinued them. They were not sure why.

I've got several boxes. Sealed away for sometime in the future. Given the fall of the dollar I'd loose money on them no matter how long I held them. Just a conversation piece for the future I guess.

FWIW Hornady still lists them in their products on their website.

Everybody knows that Dragons Breath is much more effective against zombies. You don't even have to head shoot them.
