After years of frustration and disappointment, Ol' Useless was finally able to acquire a forty-foot over-seas shipping container (not in the finest of condition).

One friend wired it, installed lights and receptacles, and laid a new floor over the old one.

Another friend painted the walls, the ceiling, and the floor white.

Another laid a wheel-chair-friendly concrete walk out to it.

CCCC got my well stuffed old school bus running and backed it over into position for unloading its junque into this swanky new eight-by-forty-foot storage shed.

With the steel shelves that I have (yet to be reassembled and painted), I'll at last have ONE easily accessible place for all the junque that remains stacked and never unpacked throughout the house and garage
will be able to move it,
 unpack it,
 sort it,
haul a bunch to the dump,
 give a lot away,
and
have a pretty good idea where this 'n' that ol' thing are.

edited to add

Of course, it'll never be as nice as Steve and Karen's new bath room, and I'll never have anybody as decorative as Karen to use it.

Ken, I'll bet you fill it up and still have items around that need a place to set.

There seems to be an unwritten law of nature that storage sheds never seem to be big enough.

Been there. Done that.

Ironically, the whole purpose of this thing is to obsolete itself to spread all this junque out so that I can get rid of it.

I want that ol' bucket empty when I kick it.

Happy for you! There is something neat about becoming reaquainted with one's accumulation.

Be careful what you throw away. Some of that trash may be worth more than you think. Glad to hear that you have some space now.

I've been wanting a container like that for years.

Hanging-on to history can be a pain in the kazooter.

For years, I held-on to two Avtron chronographs, in their day the Cadillacs of shooters' chronographs. One was unique especially for Homer Powley, Dwain Fritz (the designer-maker) had modified it from the original break-break circuit to a make-make circuit. Homer used it at long range, with screens that comprised two large sheets of aluminum foil separated by a sheet of paper. When a bullet penetrated those screens, it completed the calculation that chronographs usually begin and complete with break-break screens.

I still have several (new and unused) of Homer's pressure-measuring device that's so rare that nobody has a notion what one ought to be worth. "$0$1,000,000" isn't very helpful as an "estimate." I have his dies for making the lead crushers, too. And somewhere, a spool of lead wire to make 'em out of.

And a super-rare (and super-complicated) little Weldon range-finder, complete with antique Army field manual.

And a bore-sighter for a 20mm.

But a museum I ain't.

Ever consider an auction? When we cleaned out my folk's house we had a bunch of "junk" that brought a pretty penny. Just thinking.

Special and Beloved Friend Ken.

I'm up in the middle of the night with spinal pain and the Vicodin ain't working. Finding your edit made me smile ... broadly.

The Lady, OUR LADY KAREN, DOES love her granite and tiny, tiny glass tiles (all four bazillion of them) and it was my especial pleasure to work my buns off, trying to make it possible.

What I hadn't counted on was what a pain in the ass it is getting all of those tiny tiles up, glued to the wall, grouted, sealed and still looking kinda straight and nice.

It is amazing what we will go through to make our lady happy.

Karen is in bed and comfortably dozing the night away. When she awakes, I'll be sure to show her your edit. I have absolutely no doubt that she will send you a cyber-hug and a cyber-smack upon YOUR CHEEK.

We miss you, my old and dear friend; and absolutely send along our fondest wishes, and yeah ... some LOVE.

God Bless,

Your Forever Friend Steve

Best of luck to ya Ken. I am in the same sort of place. I can't use a lot of my "Stuff" and I have been looking for some younger relatives and/or relations of friends that I can give a lot of thing to. I just want to see my stuff go to someone that will enjoy it and maybe pass it along again someday...

Glad to see the progress Ken and I know you will "git-r-done" Sir.

I was lucky when Carl came to town to set up a gunsmith shop, I dumped all my old parts & tools on him. We were both happy, he got stuff he needed and could use and I got rid of all my old junk! smile smile smile
