I'm again toying with the idea of buying a Savage as a relatively inexpensive alternative to multiple rifles.
.) I don't like the bolt handles on the 110 series, but love the new Axis handle. Would it fit on the 110 series?
.) I've read that the Axis uses the long action for all calibers. I want stainless. Does this mean, assuming the bolt face is the proper size, that I could use the 116 for short action rounds too, instead of buying both a 16 & 116?
.) If the answer to 2 is "yes", are there any drawbacks other than a longer stroke than necessary?
.) Assuming I could use a long action for short action rounds too, any disadvantages to using a hinged floorplate vs. a blind magazine? If so, could it be easily converted to blind if I had the proper stock?
