i have been wanting a ruger compact for a couple of years now. well i finally got one. i mainly wanted it for my wife to use but i plan on using it quite a bit myself. it started out with a zeiss conquest 3x9x40 but she has been wanting a 50mm scope so after a little swap and trade it ended up with a stainless zeiss 3x9x50 on it. if i can get time to get it sighted in this week i plan on taking it on a hog hunt this weekend... this is it with the 3x9x40 it had on it to start with and here it is now with the 3x9x50 on it

A compact rifle with a supersize scope seems odd to me but if that's what she wants....

What does it launch? I'd love to have one and rebarrel to .250-3000 AI.

I've got one of those in 223, neat little truck/tractor rifle.
FWIW, they're extremely loud if you don't get the muzzle all the way out the cab of a pickup truck, or so I've heard...

223? 243? 260? 7/08? or 308? One of them?
Wish that my 300 WSM Ruger Frontier originally came with a stainless barrel like that one. Imo with that stock (looks about the same as mine), the stainless barrel is better looking than is my blued barrel.
Great glass with the Zeiss. But a 50mm objective is a bit much atop a Ruger compact.

Well...if she can kill a deer like the one in your avatar with it, dont let anybody ( including me) give you schitt about the HubbleScope...

Have one of those in 7mm-08 for my son, it is a shooter. Wasn't a fan at first but it won me over. Shoots about anything under an inch and is just the right size for him.

Neat little rifle.
Wonder what a 6.5 Creedmoor would do in one?

Reminds me of a friend who bought his wife a new shotgun for her birthday. He borrowed it and went hunting; left her at home.
He who joyfully marches in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.

I can identify and understand your operating plan here and sure looks like its working for you now...I allways wanted one of those M700 Rem 26"HB 308 police model rifles, saw more than a few and battled the inner gremlins of "I don't need it", "have too many guns"," it won't do anything that one of the others will" yada yada. Saw one the other day and told myself I didn't need it, but thought if I got it for my wife it would be ok.So I bought it and I'm shooting it and enjoying it. The wife? well I don't have one of those anymore allready bought one of them, got used by her and really don't need or want another one them. You know something else ? I don't have to put in a reservation to use her rifle either. Magnum Man

Love the Ruger Compacts! My son has one in 7-08 with a tiny Weaver 6x28 compact scope. Perfect hunting combo.

Still not sure why a 50mm scope is considered blasphemy by people. It sits a mere 5mm higher off the barrel, and what does it add in weight...an ounce and a half?

The world isn't linear and as a result all millimeters aren't equal.
