I picked up a new M70 Featerweight SS in 7WSM yesterday while the local gunshop was having there annual blowout!
I thinking I will swap out the factory wood for a beautiful McM swirl and have it bedded, throw on some Talley lightweights and a VXIII 2.5x8 scope.
I am hoping to be around 7.5lbs, but probably closer to 8lbs. How realistic of a goal is this? This is my first Winny, so I am not familiar with any "weight loss" tricks.
Thoughts from the crowd...............................Trey

Trey, I think you will be in that ballpark. Like I said my 7 WSM goes 7 3/4 lbs with the McM stock all up. You'll also like the 7 WSM! Good luck with it and post pics when you get your new stock!

If you really want to lighten it up, trade it for a Kimber Montana, Talley aluminum mounts, and a light weight Leuy scope, and come in at a hair over 7 lbs. Mine both shoot around 3/4" groups, consistently. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Partsman-- If you are going to tease other people about their spelling, you should take the errors out of your own signature. It makes the irony too rich.

Ihave one in .300WSM. I find the ergonomics of the factroy wood stock to be excellent and the rifle shoots well. I can't fathom wanting it any lighter as a real world hunting rifle. Why twick with something very close to ideal.....Good Shooting...........Essex County
