Has anyone heard of pros and cons of this package deal they have going. The scope is a Simmons� 3.5-10x40mm Truplex Reticle scope with TrueZero� Technology. Which does not mean much to me but you guys with all the knowledge can let me know your thoughts. I will be buying this in the 300 wby caliber.

Doubt the scope is much to brag about, but the rifle is a good one.

I would be interested to see if the scope holds up to a .300 Weatherby...

I know I'm kind of a snob when it comes to rifles, but package deals leave me cold. Usually they have a crappy scope, in crappy mounts. The only package deal I'll even look it is a Remington ADL Synthetic, and that's only because the package with the throwaway scope and mounts is cheaper than a bare SPS.

I really like my Stainless Vanguard S2 270 Winchester.
Shoots under an inch at a 100 yards with 140 grain bullets.
I put a Nikon 2X8X32 on mine. Just got some 150gr bullets
to try now. It didn,t like the 4 different 130gr bullets

I bought a Vanguard 2 in .300 win mag in Jan. It shoots Hornady superformance 180 gr interbonds great right out of the box.
I got a 3 shot .272" group at 100 yds and 3 shot .398" group at 200yds with off the shelf ammo. I could not be more happy with the Vanguard at this point.

Don't get me wrong, I like Howas/Vanguards. I have a .223 Vanguard (I) and a Howa 7 WSM. If somebody would have a V II in .240 Weatherby in stock, I'd have one of them, too. Just don't like the glass in most packages.

Depends on how much more for the package vs buying the rifle alone. I most likely wouldn't want the scope on that rifle, but often the price difference is pretty small. If I had a use for the scope on a 22 or another rifle it might be worth it.

KDK - way I figure it IF the package (rifle w/scope) price is acceptable buy it. You can always use the package scope on a another (lower recoil) rifle or rimfire. Homesteader.

That's cool. I just am kinda particular about optics... a lot of stuff doesn't work for me. I dunno if I just have weird eyes or what.
