Has anyone travelled this route yet or have a trip in the works? If so what are your thoughts?

Do they go straight through with no overnight layovers? If so, this could become a preffered route for me if I get into a position to travel over again someday. I really loved being able to handle the guns only ONCE, in Zim, and using Zim rules back when the routes allowed such. Took as many as five guns and several hundred rounds of ammo once, plus shoulder mounted 100fps (frames per second) camera's etc. for an exteneded stay.
Ahhhh, the good old days. 1990's through 2000's might have been a kind of golden age for good and affordable big five hunting, but I digress. I will be watching this thread hoping to gain more intel.

Blaser I'm unsure if there is such a flight. Had a hunter fly to Nairobi (Kenya) last year before flying to Harare. Will be interesting if something else is available.

I don't believe there is one from DFW to HRE. There just wouldn't be an economic justification to run a flight from those two points. There is a DFW to DBX (Dubai).
I hunt, not to kill, but in order not to have played golf....

I am sorry I was not specific. The flight that originates in DFW connects through Dubai and on to Harrare. You would have to travel through Harrare but you get to pass up Joberg and another internal flight in the US. The non stop to Dubai started February this year from DFW

How long of a layover in Dubai? Short enough to allow the baggage and especially guns to not have to be un checked and then re checked? This is kinda interesting to those of us who hope to hunt in Zim again.

About 3 hours Mark if I remember correct. I did not have firearms but this would be too short to check your rifles out, and in again.

You might be able to check them through, but I would check and ask several sources before attempting this. You would not be able to claim them in Dubai to recheck them. Contractors (blackwater types) have gone to Jail for having M4 handguards and such in their bag going to Afghan hotspots. Even gun parts can land you in trouble.

Just use www.travelwithguns.com in San Antonio, TX. You will have NO problems on Emirates whatsoever.
