I am looking at buying a Ruger No. 3, originally chambered in 22 Hornet, that has been rechambered to a cartridge I have never heard of. It is marked 22 Casull. The original stamp has been x'd out and 22 Casull stamped above it.

Have any of you heard of, or have any information on this chambering? This rifle is in an estate and the executor knows nothing about it.

I am guessing it's a 454 necked to .22, but a chamber cast is probably indicated. You may be able to get more info here:

Google wasn't my friend when I entered .22 Casull yesterday. Perhaps I made a mistake in typing.

Thanks for posting that link, that explains what it is and searching for .22-454 got me a lot more information. I was hoping it was a wildcat that I could rechamber to something else but the Casull case leaves me with no good options except a re-barrel. I will pass on this one.
