Try Willets, Blantons, Elijah Craig 12y/o (18yo is good but beyond $30), Also KY Gentleman is a really decent blend for the price. Usually around $15 for 1.75l.

Another new best friend. Dickel Sour Mash Old Number 8. Don't let the price throw you off. Just bought on sale at $17.95 and to me is a good sipping whiskey. Personally I don't like a heavy bite at the end.

That George Dickel #8 is decent. Stay away from the red label version that a bit raw. They must have a bunch on the racks waiting to mature. Only the green stuff and the #8 is available now. I hope the #12 is bottled soon.

Bourbon ! THE true American spirit . Distilled from Iron free waters. Aged in new charred white oak barrels. Bourbon..not blended ..but a straight natural whiskey ! I like 'em all. On a cold night with me bare feet in the fireplace..with a splash of lime Perrier.I must say.. I like OLD CROW by tradition...Jim Beam when I feel a little Hank Jr. Don't always remember" Who hit John" the next day ...But I make it to work & kick ass !

As someone who lives not far from the bourbon trail, I often venture to the distilleries for tasting. When I go to buy some fine Kentucky bourbon I generally choose Pappy Van Winkle, but for around or under $30, I like Makers.

got the chance to visit family south of Lexington, KY over the weekend. Went "grocery" shopping in Danville. I found some Bookers, Bakers, Basil Hayden, and Knob Creek. Gonna be a good summer.
A little off topic -- I threw in a bottle of Bullit Rye for fun as well!!

Buffalo Trace is very good but close to if not over your $30 mark. For a "cheap bourbon" try Jeremiah Weed. I think it's much better than the $10 a bottle it sells for.

Try Old Forester for an inexpensive bourbon that's actually pretty good.

We used to drink Old Crow a lot in college 'cause it was cheap....That stuff will give you a splitting headache and all you have to do is sniff the cork.....I like Blantons a bunch, but it is a little pricey......

'Scuse me!
Guss Pendelton is actually whiskey, not burbon.
Sorry for the confusion. I'm actually a Scotch drinker....(GRIN!) Give me some McClellans Islay and I'm content.

Give me some McClellans Islay and I'm content. Then get some cask strength Laphroaig and you'll be ecstatic.
