Anybody load this bullet in a 7x57 for Whitetails? If so, how do perform, and negatives? Just ordered a box from Midway figured I would try a few loads in my two custom 7x57's.

They are new on the market. Doubt that anyone has had a chance to use one, yet. But if it is anything like the 140gr 270, it should be fine.

Thought they might be new but when I checked Sierra web page could not find them listed as a NEW item. I know the 160 shoot well but have never tried them on deer

I have used the SPs in 7-08 and 7 rem mag with great results. I think the 7x57 would be well served with that bullet. I really like the new "skived" HP. It should contribute to more controlled expansion.

Pahntr760, have you had a chance to shoot the HP in your 7-08 yet? If so, what types of groups are you getting?

Spoke with a Sierra Technician yesterday. SouthTexas is right, they are new on the market this year. According to the Technician the bullet was designed after numerous customer request for one in the 140gr. range for the 7x57, 7-08 along with other 7mm's. He said one of the Ballistic Techs used it on a deer hunt last year and the performance was "Outstanding".

If remember right, their HP GameKing designs are designed to not expand as quickly as their SP bullets. The idea was to give one a bit more penetration, etc. I don't know if the core and jackets are the same, but I suspect they are a bit heavier. I'm considering using a few of their 165 gr. .308's as they have a lower BC, much like the Federal Throphy Bonded bullets I have left of their older TB designs. E

How far do you think you might be shooting?
When I think of the 7x57, the 154 Horn round nose is the first bullet to pop into my brain.

clb,No further than 200 yards. Had to go to Hornady web site to view the 154 RN. Never have even seen them offered through my regular suppliers. Might have to order a box from Hornady.

In general, I'm not a fan of Sierra bullet for shooting game, but think that they are fine for shooting paper and varmints.
FWIW, I've been shooting and loading for the 7x57 for over 40 years and have tried lots of different component bullets.
Depending on the throat of the particular rifle, I generally shoot bullets in the 139 to 160 grain range from my 7x57s. The 7x57s that I am currently shooting the most are an Interarms Mark X mannlicher and a Marlin XL-7 with a modified 24" A&B Savage 110 specs barrel. I'm shooting the 140 grain BT in the Marlin and the 140 grain AB in the Mark X. Both rifles will shoot the 140 grain AB, BT, and Partition to approximately the same POA, so I can shoot BTs for practice and save the more expensive ABs and Partitions for hunting.
