Tried 110grs of 209 with Thor conical: I get either a misfire or a delayed fire. Tried 110grs of 209 with shockwave 250's and 250 powerbelts: same result. Any advice on fixing this problem because when I used Jim Sockey's powder I had no misfires or delayed fires but the accuracy I need and want is not there.

Did you clean your breech plug with a 3mm drill bit? If you have never cleaned the plug start with a small bit and work your way up to a 3mm. You will see the carbon coming out. JSG ignites easier than BH209.

use hot cci 209 m primers as well and do as omega said and clean that plug the right way.

Tighten up the fit on the primer as well,

No I haven't done that or anything to it for that matter. I have only had it for two weeks but will give that a try. Thanks!!

To clean the carbon out, we are talking about coming from the Primer end and cleaning the channel leading up to the small firing hole but not through the small hole. I do this by hand (not in a power drill) and can be done by holding the bit with a pair of pliers and turning the breechplug over it. You will be amazed at how much carbon buildup comes out. I have now glued a drill bit into a wooden doweling rod to do this. But you only want to drill out the carbon: DO NOT DRILL ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE PLUG TO 3 MM

Also, how tight is the Thor? BH 209 requires a snug fit and some pressure to go off.

Is this the original accura or the V2 with quick release breech plug?

mine is the v2 with the quick release breech plug

The 2nd thor wouldnt even go down the barrel. I had to take the breech plug out and push it back out with the rod. As far as the powder problem goes, it does not misfire at all when using the Shockey's.

shoot man just go to www.blackhorn209.com and order the BH209 breech plug and adjust the firing pin bushing for a nice snug fit on the primer, problem solved!

Which primers were you using anyway?

I used CCI 209 and Winchester Triple 7's. I cannot find the CCI 209M Primers in my area.

dont use t7 primers, they are low power primers.

The regular ccis will do the job but its important to seal up that primer blow by. Just order that BH209 plug and you will be set.

yes highly recommend it. Not sure if you watched my video but i show what it looks like on a factory set up and then what it looks like after the shim kit.

I watched the video and I really do appreciate your help. I will save the link so I can fix mine just as you show. Now I just need to find the CCI 209M Primers.

Let us know how this goes. Sure hard to imagine an issue with a clean dry breech plug and a MAG primer. I like to keep my barrels clean and dry. I patch thoroughly after cleaning and do not ever put oil in the barrel during hunting season.

Hey...I got the shim kit today but the firing pin is sticking out too far to get a screwdriver in there....any suggestions????

You can commit a screwdriver for just that job by grinding a notch in the middle of the blade.
