Oops fat fingers 230gr +P Ranger T's.

And thank you for the compliments, it's the epitome of tack drivers and makes even an average pistol shot like myself look good. It's scary when a great shooter runs it. In my hands it typically shoots a magazine of the Ranger T's into a quarter size group at 15 yds. Does almost as well with most pretty much anything I've run through it.

It isn't light but it sure shoots.

My first choice would be my S&W Commander 1911 in .45 ACP. Nearly perfect package for casual concealed carry as a US civilian.

The only downside is the front sight on the adjustable Trijicons set is .330" tall versus the standard .165" necessitating custom leather to clear it.

Leather is the Montana XLT from C5 leather out of Oklahoma. It's a slightly thinner version of the VMII with a bit more cant. Both are features I prefer. The fit and retention is absolutely superb.

Usually have a Smith 642 in the pocket with 130gr gold dots as well. No pic as we have all seen countless of them.

You're reminding me I want another Baer... grin

gmoats,

The work was done by Burke Hill of Phoenix, AZ...some 33 years ago would be close. That is indeed a Micro sight in the "melted" installation. It's been pretty durable as it has lasted some time now. Bar-Sto match barrel, good trigger, a little help on the hand pinching with the grip safety. Other than that pretty much a stock gun. The frame is a 1930's commerical and the slide a later military with full heat treatment.

The holster and magazine pouch are by the late Bruce Nelson.

I'll get a pix of the sight up later.

Very cool---believe it or not I almost asked if that were an original Nelson---if you ever want to sell it, let me know. I'm impressed!! Did you know Bruce??

gmoats,

Yes, I knew Bruce. Met him at Gunsite in 1977. Had 4 of his holsters. When I bought them they were just "Bruce holsters". later he call this one the #1 Professional. Gave one away as a gift, had two stolen and have just this one left. Had this pistol stolen also but I found it at a local gun show and "recovered" it.

I'm pretty sure the gun was built in 78 or 79 as I know I shot it at the SOF shoot in Columbia, MO in 1980.

It has a lot of rounds through it and has never stumbled in all these years.

Here are a couple pix of the old fashioned Micro sight installation.

My personal pick is a Glock 19 but a Scandium Officer's frame with a Commander slide, worked over by someone who knows how, would be "perfection", IMO. Put it in an Andrews IWB holster.

I just bought a Kahr CM9, 6 in the mag, one in the pipe. This gun is scary accurate, no one would believe it. It will fit in your back pocket easy, or the muzzle will fit in the watch pocket of your jeans under your belt. This small auto is just slightly larger than the Ruger 380 and a hell of a lot more accurate.

I have to say, right out of the box, mine hums along just fine. I'm a gunsmith and I have only found cosmetic complaints, and on that topic there are many, S&W really didn't finish mine very well. But functionally, she's a perfect performer over a few thousand rounds. Light, compact and powerful, she's a good daily carry. But I don't put her in the same class as the Glock 19. Truth be told the G19 can take far more abuse, but since I tend to maintain my arms fairly well, I don't NEED the extra margin the Glock offers. But were I a "working man" in God knows where, I'd choose the Glock before the 1911.

In a real pinch, it would be one of these two. On the left, a 4" S&W Model 57 (no dash) .41 Magnum, on the right, a 5" S&W Model 27-2. Either are stowed inside the pants on the right hip, and carry well there under a loose shirt with these cut down and rounded grips.

.....I like your way of thinking GF... Especially like the grips. I did a set like that but cut them even across the bottom...you have a much better idea.

Excellent choice GF1. A colleague back in my LA Co Sheriff days used to carry a 3 1/2" model 27 with skinny Pachmyers in an IWB holster and said it was no less comfortable than a 2" Model 10, and a hell of a lot more gun.

I've only own two handguns: Ruger GP100 4"barrel and Colt 1911
XSE Lwt Govt.

I don't know how concealable a 4" barrel revolver such a GP100 would be, so I guess by default in would be my 1911 45acp.
